Students will react better to feedback if you begin with positive comments. Writing is a process not a onetime event. By default, many students misunderstand the purpose of feedback and see it as judgment instead of enabling learning. When students write about content, they learn it better. Feedback needs to be specific and clear. This can also help teachers.
